Payment options available to users when creating a Challan Form (CRN)
Payment options for creating challan form
- Tax Payment through Net Banking
- Tax Payment through Debit Card
- Pay at the Bank Counter
- Tax Payment through RTGS / NEFT
- Payment through Payment Gateway (using Debit Card / Credit Card / Net-banking / UPI)
Payment through Net Banking (of authorised banks)
- Select the Net Banking menu on the Select Payment Mode screen, then choose the Bank Name from the list of options. (If the name of your bank is not included as one of the buttons, choose it from the Other Bank drop-down menu.) Then click Continue.
Note: Only Authorised Banks are eligible for this facility. RTGS/NEFT or Payment Gateway mode can be chosen for tax payment if your bank is not an authorised bank.
- Check the payment information and the tax break up information on the Preview and Make Payment screen, then click the Pay Now button
C. Read and accept the Terms and Conditions and click Submit to Bank. (You will be redirected to the website of the selected Bank where you can log in and make the payment.)
After successful payment, a success message will be displayed. You can download the Challan Receipt for future reference. You will be able to view the details of payment made in the Payment History menu on the e-Pay Tax page.
Payment through Debit Card (of Authorised Bank)
A: Choose the Bank Name from the list of selections under Debit Card, then click Continue.
B: On the Preview and Make Payment screen, check the payment and tax details and then click the Pay Now option.
C: After reading and selecting the terms and conditions, click Submit to Bank. (You will be taken to the website of the bank you’ve selected, where the user can enter his debit card information and complete the payment.)
A success message will appear after successful payment. You can download the Challan Receipt for your records.. Payment history is available in the Payment History menu on the e-Pay Tax page.
Payment through Pay at the Bank Counter
- Pick the payment method (Cash, Cheque, or Demand Draft) from the Pay at the Bank Counter menu.
Note:
- Cash payments over 10,000
- According to CBDT Notification 34/2008, a taxpayer who is a firm or a person (other than a company) to whom the provisions of Section 44AB of the Income-tax Act, 1961 are applicable cannot use this mode.
- Verify the payment information and tax break up information on the Preview and Download Challan Form page then click Continue.
C. The successfully created Challan Form with Challan Reference Number (CRN) will be shown on the Visit Bank to Make Payment page. Download and print the challan form, then pay at the branch of the authorised bank which you selected.
Payment through RTGS / NEFT (available for any bank providing this facility)
A. On selecting RTGS / NEFT as the mode of payment, click Continue.
B. Verify the payment information and tax break up information on the Preview and Download Mandate Form page then click Continue.
C. In the Pay Now / Visit Bank to Make Payment page, you will see the successfully generated Mandate Form, along with the Challan Reference Number (CRN). In order to complete the transaction, either you visit the bank with your CRN and Mandate Form, or you can use the Net Banking facility of the bank where you have an account to complete the transaction.
Note:
- Any bank can accept NEFT and RTGS payments. You are advised to check with the bank to see if NEFT and RTGS are provided.
- According to RBI regulation and the bank’s policy, NEFT / RTGS fees may be charged; these fees are in addition to the tax amount.
Payment through Payment Gateway (using Debit Card / Credit Card / Net-banking / UPI)
A: Select Payment Gateway method from the Payment Gateway menu and click Continue.
B: In the Preview and Make Payment page, Click Pay Now after checking the payment and tax information.
C: After agreeing to the terms and conditions, click Submit to Bank. (You’ll be taken to the website of the selected payment gateway, where you can log in or provide your debit card, credit card, or UPI information and complete the payment.
D: A successful message will pop up once after the payment . You can download the Challan Receipt for future usage. On the e-Pay Tax page, under Payment History, you can access the payment’s details.
